Can you give a list of dermatologist practicing in Sta.Rosa Laguna,Philippines?

A suggested good source: the Philippine Dermatological Association.

They can give you the names of dermatologists practicing in any location in the Philippines. And through them, you'll be able to determine who is qualified and can properly handle your dermatological issues. Can you give a list of dermatologist practicing in Sta.Rosa Laguna,Philippines?
Many thanks!

My derma, is at Makati Med, is excellent. Her warning to me: never allow anyone to do anything to my face that would permanently change it without first getting a second opinion. Reason: once you've cut, it's irreversable Report Abuse

  • Dermatologist or general physician?

I need to get an abscess looked at, possibly drained (that is if it doesn't rupture first), and treated further then antibiotics (this is the 2nd time getting one in the same area in a 1 yr. time span...think anti-biotics aren't going to be the only thing I need...obveously they didn't work that last time). Should I call a dermatologist or general physician?Dermatologist or general physician?
General physician - they actually have more experience with this than dermatologists, and they also due minor procedures like draining abcesses. Make sure they culture it for MRSA since the abscess came back.Dermatologist or general physician?
just your family doctor should be able to take care of it

if they feel they cannot treat it properly *which they should be able to* then they will refer you to a dermatologist
any physician can do it, you can also do it at any ER center near by you..

    be well!
You'll want to see a surgeon if the abscess needs draining.

It costs $150 for the product and for 60 refill cartridges (60 additional treatments) is $50

You can buy it at any drug store including CVS

I'm not sure if its worth it- never tried it
It is over $100 dollars. The ad's I've seen claim to clear a pimple in 3 days, but if you have a pimple that you just leave alone and don't pick at it will be gone in three days. Honestly, I've never heard of a more stupid product in my life.

Im thinking of going to beauty school, you know for skin care, is that a good idea? i know its not medical but it would give me some knowledge, right? please help=)I want to be a dermatologist, what steps should i take?
a dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in treating disorders of the skin. Hence, you'd need to attend an undergraduate school, obtaining training in the proper courses of chemistry, biology, math, as well as the rest of the well-rounded liberal arts categories. Then you'd have to attend four years of medical school, an internship and preferably a residency in medicine (or surgery) and then, if you're lucky, be accepted into a dermatology three year residency program. I say ';lucky'; because the dermatology residency admission is the most difficult of all residencies to get iin to in the country. So, not only would you have to go thru all of the above schooling, but you'd have to be the top student in your class in order to be considered for the residency program. Many programs, in fact, will only accept applications from those people who have obtained both the M.D. and PhD degrees. So, if you're willing and able to put in the effort, then best of luck to you.I want to be a dermatologist, what steps should i take?

Oral antibiotics given for acne treatment are effective, but there are side effects to constantly being on antibiotics. Overuse of antibiotic can lead to antibiotic resistance. This makes ';super bugs'; that are difficult to treat.

  • If I think I have toenail fungus, do I see a dermatologist, or a podiatrist?

There is a column in our local newspaper by a Dr. Gott. He reccomends Vicks Vapor Rub for treating nail fungus.Put it on your toes and wear your socks. It works!!If I think I have toenail fungus, do I see a dermatologist, or a podiatrist?
A podiatrist. Your Dr. might also tell you to rub Vick's vaporub on it before bed for a few months. It kills the fungus. If I think I have toenail fungus, do I see a dermatologist, or a podiatrist?
I would say it is better to see a podiatrist since thy specialize in your feet and really have see more ailments in peoples feet then a dermatologist does. A dermatologist just specializes in skin conditions. But a podiatrist sees all sorts of foot ailments that a dermatologist may not have seen before.
    spray it with lysol.
Podiatrist would be ideal if you can. A regular family doctor can help you too. My doc said 1/4 c of bleach in 1 gallon of water, soak for 3 days a week for 10 minutes for 1 year...OR take a pill for a year that could give me liver failure or something like that.
Your primary care doctor can give you an antibiotic..if he can't help he'll probably send you a foot doctor.

Definitely check out the Lindsay House on East Avenue. There are 2 different parts...one is the Q Medical Spa which does injections, facials , hair removal etc. and then there is the surgery center. Very trustworthy and reputable. What you probably want for your nose is Restalyne or some other filler to fill in the ';bump'; I've seen it on tv before too...some opt for it instead of a nose job. Good Luck

Why did my dermatologist give me this?

I have dark circles under my eyes and I went to a dermatologist and he gave me a little tube of moisturizer (I get enough sleep and I'm only 16 by the way). I'm trying to get rid or reduce the darkness under my eyes. I don't get it why he would give me a moisturizer. How would that help? Should I keep using it or what? Did your dermatologist do this for you? please tellWhy did my dermatologist give me this?
Just use it...the dermatologist knows better than Yahoo Answerers. Why did my dermatologist give me this?
JUST GO AHEAD AND USE IT ... THERES A REASON YOUR DOC GAVE IT TO YOU ..... NOT JUST TO LOOK AT ......... I MEAN IF IT COST MONEY USE IT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD AND GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH ....... BECAUSE IT MOISTURIZES DOENT MEAN IT ISNT GOING TO WORK ...... JUST KEEP USING IT AND IT MIGHT WORK
Why didn't you just ask him? Maybe he gave it to you because he's afraid your skin will dry up from the tears you'll shed when he tells you he can't help you with those dark circles.

Is that last question to me? Probably because most times I don't beat around the bush. I say what needs or should be said, and sometimes add a bit of humour hoping people will be able to laugh at themselves and the situation.

He is your doctor and specializes in the area concerning the condition you went to see him for. Therefore, if you have any questions about the treatment he recommended, then he will know why he recommended it and it won't cost you a dime more to ask him. Just give him a ring and ask. And if he gave it to you to use, then obviously he thought it would help. So until you do find out from him how exactly it is supposed to help, then you have no reason not to use it as directed and every reason to use it.

Another thing is we don't know exactly what your skin problem is because we didn't examine you. And while what he gave you might be a moisturizer, it might not be just a moisturizer. It may have other items added to it. These are also answers he knows.

It's wise to consider when asking why someone did a specific thing that the only person who can really answer that question is the person who did that thing.
I think it鈥檚 important to really understand the causes of you dark circles before trying to treat the dark circles. My friend has serious dark circles and her dark circles are improving by following the information provided by http://www.darkcirclesundereyescure.com
you could be suffering from renal failure or cancer
maybe it will get rid of the dark circles if you use it long enough

    To become a dermatologist?

I've been researching on how to become a dermatologist. I know that you can't major in dermatology. So if I were to become one, what would my major be for college?

I saw that you go to college, then medical school. After that, you do residency. In between all of this, you do your MCAT and you have to get certified. So technically dermatology is where you specialize.

Well if you could clarify up that part too, I would appreciate that very much.To become a dermatologist?
You can major in whatever you want and go to med school as long as you take the premed classes in bio, chem, physics, math, and English, keep your GPA over 3.5, and do well on the MCATs. Pretty much every 4-year college and university offers premed classes (not a major). Then you've got 4 years of med school followed by 4+ years of residency, then you take the licensing exams (boards) to become certified. To become a dermatologist?

How long does it take to become a dermatologist?

Residency training program in North America:

A minimum of 12 years of college and post graduate training is required to become a dermatologist in the United States and Canada. This includes graduation from a 4-year college, a 4-year medical school followed by a year of post graduate training in medicine, surgery or pediatrics (called an internship) after which a physician may apply for admission to graduate dermatology residency training. Dermatology residencies are among the most competitive in terms of admission criteria. Following the successful completion of formal residency training in dermatology (3 years) the physician is qualified to take certifying board examinations (written and oral) by the American Board of Dermatology or the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. Once board certified, dermatologists become Diplomates of the American Board of Dermatology or the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology AOCD. They are then eligible to apply for fellowship status in the American Academy of Dermatology. Some dermatologists undertake advanced subspecialty training in programs known as fellowships after completion of their residency training. These fellowships are either one or two years in duration. Fellowships in dermatology include pediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology including MOHS micrographic surgery, dermatopathology (pathology of skin diseases) and dermatological immunology.

    Training program in Australia:

An Australian specialist dermatologist will have completed 6 years of medical school, one internship year and at least one year of general medical or surgical service in the public hospital system, prior to becoming eligible for specialist training in dermatology. The selection process is rigorous and transparent; candidates must pass science and pharmacology exams and engage in monitored and assessed practical training in medical and surgical dermatology. At the completion of the 5 year training programme, trainees sit a national written examination held over two days. Successful candidates may then proceed to the practical viva examination (held over 2 days) after which they may apply for fellowship status with the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

    Training program in India:

To be a dermatologist in India, a minimum of 3 years of training is required after graduation from medical school and internship. The period involves rigorous training in all aspects of general dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, venereal diseases (including HIV) and leprosy. At the end of the training period the resident has to go through written tests and clinical exams. The degree awarded is MD (dermatology, venereology and leprosy). Most specialists also go for certification by the national board (for the award of 'diplomate of national board').How long does it take to become a dermatologist?

What majors do i need to become a dermatologist?

If you are in the US or Canada, your undergraduate major doesn't matter. Some people do biology based majors just to make getting pre-requisite courses easier, but this isn't necessary.

The path to being a dermatologist is:

    - 4 years undergrad at a university

    - 4 years medical school

    - (US - 1 year internship)

    - dermatology residency - 5 years in Canada, 3 years in US (US - 4 years total)

Dermatology is always one of the most competitive specialities. To get in, you'll need not only great marks, but community/school involvement, research, and probably some real extracurricular activities too. Good luck!

Did my dermatologist do this too hastily?

i had a blackhead extraction procedure done,

it successfully got rid of all my blackheads.

but she didn't use steam or anything to help with the pain.

all she did was poke/stab the pores with blackheads with a very sharp needle

    then scraped the impurities out

    i'm just curious to know,

    was this the right procedure?

my nose bled a lot afterwards (the surface, from the scraping)

and it hurt a lotDid my dermatologist do this too hastily?
Wow that does sound painful! I had a facial where they used steam to open my pores which made it easier to get the blackheads out. I wasn't in much pain from it and it worked beautifully. Sounds like you went to a butcher!

Michael Jackson's dermatologist Arnie Klein claims he had diagnosed MJ with lupus, justifying some of the meds he had prescribed to him. Would he as a dermatologist be qualified to make such a diagnosis? Is a dermatologist qualified to diagnosis a patient with Lupus (re: Michael Jackson)?
Yes, Lupus has skin manifestations and often patients with lupus present for the first time with these skin changes. the disease is usually managed primarily by a rheumatologist, but generally no one would have more training or experience in managing the skin manafestations than a dermatologist. because lupus can effect every body system there is usually a team approach to the management of this diseaseIs a dermatologist qualified to diagnosis a patient with Lupus (re: Michael Jackson)?
Yes, discoid or skin lupus is diagnosed and treated by a dermatologist. It is diagnosed by skin biopsy.

Systemic lupus is treated by a rheumatologist and other specialists to deal with the organs affected by the lupus. This varies from patient to patient.

  • Is it possible for me to become a dermatologist with an ged? if yes, what do I need to do to get started???

Depending you your GPA for highschool you might want to go to a two year Community College. Take the basic classes like maths and englishes there. After transfer to a 4 year college to start your degree. You need a high GPA though so your going to need to work hard. After the 4 yeaer college you can go into Medical school. Is it possible for me to become a dermatologist with an ged? if yes, what do I need to do to get started???
Yeah... the first thing would be to apply and be excepted into a 4 year college or university and receive your bachelors degree. You must complete your undergraduate degree then you can look into applying to med school where you can study to become a dermatologist. Is it possible for me to become a dermatologist with an ged? if yes, what do I need to do to get started???
it is possible. It is difficult to get into a four-year school with a GED, so you would be wise to start out at a community college and then transfer to a four-year school.
A dermatologist is a type of doctor, so no, a GED wouldn't be enough. Start planning for undergraduate and med school if that's your dream.

It could be something as easy as seborrheic dermatitis so see a derm is a good idea. Simple meds or cream are not expensive. Getting it treated though is the only way to go to find out for sure what it is and the best way to treat it.
    Ummm...yeah.
You won't know until you go...
you should go to the derm its the best thing
Just make sure they do not give a STEROID cream to deal with it because that will thin your skin in the long run. There are non steroid creams that are good. Secondly, i'd highly recommend an allergy test too. A friend who had a similar problem also went to a Chinese herbal doctor and he was given a list of things to not eat- it slowly improved...good luck!

    they are OTC drugs

drink plenty of water avoid using too much soap it dries your skin

and use a cool mist humidifier indoors to moisten the air to make it less dry

thank youI am thinking of becoming a dermatologist or Laser Aesthetician but I need HELP!!!!!!?
Dermatologists do make a lot of money -- and they do work with LASERs to remove hair.

TO become a dermatologist, you need to do the following:

    1. Get into as good a college as possible. Take all the Pre-Med classes. You can major in anything -- but it is always a good idea to do more than the minimum.

    2. After graduating from college, go to Medical School for four years to become an MD or a DO.

    3. After getting your medical degree spend one year as a Medical Intern and three years as a Resident in Dermatology.

    4. After your residency, take an exam to become a Board Certified Dermatologist.

With any luck, you should be a dermatologist by age 30.

Who do you think would be more expensive? A chiropractor or a dermatologist? (without insurance)?

I see a chiropractor every week and pay $35 per session.

I will most likely need to see a dermatologist on Monday, let them know what's wrong w/ me, get a cream, and be on my way to getting rid of this weird skin issue. So, this should cost more than $50 should it?Who do you think would be more expensive? A chiropractor or a dermatologist? (without insurance)?
Without insurance a dermatologist (a specialist MD/DO) you're looking at approx $250 for the office visit in addition to anything they might run, and if they want you back for a reevaluation plus whatever the cost of ointment or pills to take care of the problem, which could be a very wide range. So that's just a rough estimate, but probably close to what you're looking at.Who do you think would be more expensive? A chiropractor or a dermatologist? (without insurance)?

  • Should I see a doctor/dermatologist for acne? Which one first?

Okay, after trying different medications and seeing no improvements, I have decided to seek professional help/advice. I am quite embarassed/afraid to confront them seeing the condition I am in. It's very embarassing! I thought it will get better in time that is why I have not gone to see them sooner! But I think I should not wait any longer if I DEFINITELY do not want to live like this. Do you think they help a lot mentally/physically with the problem or do you think they are only in it for the $$$ like some ppl have said? If you have experience going to one...please share and suggest what I should do. Also, I have 2 nasty ones right between my eyes so should I ask for a shot to get rid of it? Thank you.Should I see a doctor/dermatologist for acne? Which one first?
Try the followin tips i found for u .do not use chemicals on skin. Follow these instructions and do let me know if they worked on your skin. i'm sure they will!

    1. Put toothpaste on your pimple before you go to bed, should help reduce swelling overnight. Make sure it is the paste not the gel. One of the most popular acne home remedies.

    2. Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the acne.

    3. Apply a paste of fresh methi (fenugreek) leaves over the face every night for 10-15 minutes and washed with warm water. This will prevent acne, pimples, blackheads, and wrinkles.

    4. Place strawberry leaves on the acne, the alkalinity helps to reduce the swelling.

    5. Extract juice of one lemon and mix with equal quantity of rose water. Apply this mixture on the face and let it stay for about half an hour. Wash the face with fresh water. About 15 days application helps cure acne, pimples and reduces blemishes and scars.

    6. Another method is to massage the face with the skin of lemon before washing with lukewarm water.

    7. Apply fresh mint juice over the face every night for the treatment of acne, pimples, insect stings, eczema, scabies, %26amp; other skin infections.

    8. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. At least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables should be included in your diet. All acne home remedies should include a healthy diet.

    9. A couple of garlic cloves, crushed and dabbed on the face 1-2 times a day. One of the smellier acne home remedies!

    10. Home face wash for acne: Mix together 1 or 2mls each of the following: witch hazel, tea-tree and sweet fennel essential oils, adding essential oil of geranium for women and essential oil of rosewood for men. Mix with 300mls of water. Shake before use, as the oils will float on top of the water during storage. Dab affected areas with cotton wool two or three times a day. The oils will clean and unclog giving antibiotic-like protection to the skin.

    11. Apply fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight. Wash off with warm water next morning.

    12. Use 2-3 tsp. dried basil leaves to 1 cup boiling water. Steep 10-20 minutes. Cool, and apply with cotton ball.

    13. Grind orange peel with some water to a paste and apply on affected parts. One of the best acne home remedies.

    14. Clean face with cotton wool dipped in rose water 2-3 times a day.

    15. Mix 1 teaspoon lemon juice in 1 teaspoon finely ground cinnamon powder and apply on affected areas frequently.

    16. Nettle Tea is another solution, this tea has a herb that has some curing power and really helps work wonders on skin problems. Drink four cups a day to get the full benefit of one of the most powerful acne home remedies. Get nettle products here.

    17. Aloe Vera juice applied twice a day can greatly speed up the healing of acne lesions. You can buy Aloe Vera at vitacost.com

    18. Another lotion that uses bee propolis extract may also be effective. Mix eight ounces of water and 11 drops of bee propolis extract. One of the acne home remedies which has been proven effective with many people.

    19. Some herbal acne home remedies...

    Burdock leaf tea.

birth control helps ur face alot the pill it clears ur skin really well mmaybe u should try that
see a dermatologist before you see the doctor, cause they will probably send you to one... there is some good medicine that they can give you to help get rid of it.. you might try cutting down on chips or greasy foods for now..no fried foods at all...seems like the over the counter stuff seems to make things worse.. i have noticed that myself// but i did get some good stuff from the dermatologist and it clears it right up...but the doctor sent me to the dermatologist...so you may want to check that out..see if you can make one without seeing the doctor first..
You need to go to a dermatologist! I used to have really bad acne too and when i went to my dermatologist she gave me a prescription and that worked wonders! And now i dont have acne at all. and i havent used that prescription for 3 years. i'm sorry but i dont remember what the prescription was called.
    Dermatologist.
i think you should go see a dermatologist for acne. that's what i did, and now it's looking a lot better. i used to have horrible ones where i can barely wash my face because my acnes were so painful when i touch em. seeing a dermatologist cost $ though, but i think it's worth it. but if you get a good dermatologist, they might give you lots of sample medicines before prescribing the real thing. proactiv and other tv problems makes it worse in the long-runs. good luck, and i hope this help! Scabies can be caught sexually but also is spread through contact at day care centers, schools, nursing homes and other facilities. It is contagious and can be spread by holding hands, arm wrestling and other types of contact. If you were prescribed the pesticide cream then you should've been told that everyone in the house should also be applying it as well.

Wow you hit the jackpot with this one, speak with a litigation attorney about suing this doctor, it is illegal for the doctor to have told your wife that information and you can sue her for malpractice, negligence, breach of contract and slander......she should settle for a nice little sum.

I just graduated from high school and want to become a dermatologist..what courses should i be taking?

You need an undergraduate degree, preferably in Biology or Chemisty. Heavy on the math and sciences.I just graduated from high school and want to become a dermatologist..what courses should i be taking?
you should be majoring in science, BIOLOGY highly recommended of course. so whatever the courses required in those majors, TAKE THEM!I just graduated from high school and want to become a dermatologist..what courses should i be taking?
i would go to your local ntwc and they might have info and classes that u need to take
a dermatologist is an MD, so you will probably want to start with a general undergrad degree in biology (though many med schools will take students with other degrees.)

If you have a college in mind that you would like to attend, check out their website and/or talk to a counselor to see what their recommended course of study is.
A dermatologist is a licensed medical doctor, so you should be enrolled in pre med courses.

If you want to be an aesthetician, look for a good cosmetology school that offers such classes.

Should I break up with my dermatologist girlfriend? She is starting to get under my skin.?

why leave her.. she got the guts to go under your skin dudeShould I break up with my dermatologist girlfriend? She is starting to get under my skin.?
Is she annoying you (well, obviously be your heading). Try to talk to her about what she is doing that bothers you. You will have to talk things out sooner or later. If you get married and have with different woman annoy you, would you think about divorce right away? You will eventually need to talk things out. If there is something that bothers you just tell her politely and calmly. If you doesn't take it well, chances are you shouldn't be with her anyway. The only people who deserve to be around, in this case, you, are people who will understand and just as politely back to you.Should I break up with my dermatologist girlfriend? Surgeons tend to be on call more than non surgical docs.Plz name the physicians except for dermatologist and dentists who has less on calls ??
Actually, radiologists get called plenty BUT nowadays a lot of what they do can be done from home.Plz name the physicians except for dermatologist and dentists who has less on calls ??
All the assisting professionals related to the family Doc go hand-in-gloves. The doctors keep busy by visiting Polyclinics on hourly basis. This was a suggestion for Counselors, art, physical trainers, ..... at such centers as visiting professionals. The institute or industry could afford with less fees and the professional could earn more and many could benefit at different places. This is like sharing transport.

I feel all could be busy, affordable and handy. Thats like a busy BEE %26amp; ANT with no boring winters.
    Consider rheumatology, pathology, and radiology.

Where can i find a cheap dermatologist near Avon Ohio?

I think you would definitely have to leave the U.S. to find a CHEAP dermatologist. In the world of doctors, you get what you pay for. I know that's not much help, but this is an impossible question. If you're looking for a GOOD dermatologist, then you might ask around or visit a doctors rating website like http://ratemds.com/ . If you don't have insurance, some doctors can offer discounted rates. Just call and explain and if the receptionist isn't very understanding, just keep trying other doctors. :-) You can also try a public health clinic. Some general doctors there can still prescribe general dermatological treatments.

at LEAST 8 glasses of water a day, plus eating relatively healthy, plus being sanitary and showering of course. maybe not perfect skin, but thats about all it takes to make real improvements.

oh, and sunblock when out in the sun is a big deal in keeping skin young.

If you're going to commit to this routine, then you might want to invest in a Britta water filter. That way you can just use your tap water, and the filter will remove any impurities. It's not the cheapest of things to buy, but if you'll be drinking two litres per day then you'll definitely get your money's worth (and of course it will work out cheaper in the long-run, compared with buying mineral water each day)

PB.Dermatologist told me 2 drink bottled water for my skin, but isnt that expensive daily...?
Your dermatologist sounds very ' new age ' to suggest you drink only bottled mineral water. Ask the silly cow to pay for it!

Tap water is just as good if not better. Some trials have been done on bottled water and they found all sorts of nasties that are not in tap water. Besides, you don't know how the shop has stored your bottle water, do you?

A friend of mine runs a shop and his dog cocks his leg on the bottles of water. Do you wash the outside of the bottle before you drink it?
Your dermatologist clearly thinks you have more money than sense! Drinking tap water is perfectly fine.
get a water filter that you attach to your sink . that should do the trick.good luck.

Try Carbolic acid (phenol). Apply carbolic acid by toothpick at the root of the wart.I have a wart on my thumb, I've had a dermatologist burn it several times and it came back, I want to remove?
Have him try freezing it. The burning isn't getting deep enough. You could also try fingernail clippers but if you do, be prepared to bleed.
    Get Compound W.
This is a fairly long answer, but if you can

stick with it you may find some insight.

I once had a veritable plague of warts that

were spreading like wildfire in a few places.

My knee's and my hands most especially.

Warts are caused by a virus, this I do know.

In the mid 1970's I went to a dermatologist

who tried a very experimental treatment on

    my wart problem.

He chose the biggest wart (it was on my thumb)

and took a syringe filled with novocaine and

injected it directly into the wart.

It was Novocaine, so after the initial sting of the

needle the entire area went numb and I felt

    nothing more.

He injected a small amount, then withdrew the

needle and re-inserted at a different point on the

wart and injected a bit more.

He did this again and again all over the entire

surface of the wart until the syringe was empty.

It made a big ol' bloody (but entirely numb) mess

of the wart. It was bandaged well and allowed to

scab up and heal under the bandage.

He asked me to return in 10 days.

    The most amazing thing happened.

Within 10 days ALL of my warts had disappeared!

I think I remember counting a total of 35 or so

between my knee's and my hands. And every

single one was gone without a trace.

    He called it a miracle.

It was just an experimental treatment he had read

about in his medical journals at that time.

When I returned wartless, he told me further study

showed it was NOT going to be considered as an

effective treatment for warts because it only worked

on less than 10% of those it was administered to.

He couldn't even say WHY it was that this was

ever considered a treatment for warts. Or why it

was effective for some, but not for most.

I was simply one of the lucky ones.

He told me if this hadn't worked, the only other

way to treat warts at that time would have been

to burn each one off individually.

That would have been expensive and left me with

    lots of scarring.

Upon reading your question, I realize that wart

treatment hasn't really advanced much in all

    these years!

Perhaps you could be one of those lucky ones like

me. Talk to your dermatologist and see if he will be

willing to give this treatment a try.

If not there is another so-called ';treatment'; that

worked for my son and myself as well.

This next story may sound really silly to you.

And I will understand if you want to ignore it

completely. It is simply the strangest way of

getting rid of warts that I have ever hear of.

I am NOT a superstitious person.

Nor do I give any countenance to spells, magic

    and things of that nature.

So this story is a bit strange for me to both admit

    to and to recommend.

When my son was about 5 he began to get warts

on his knee's and hands very similar to those that

    I had.

We were on a camping trip in Utah about 1979.

One of the old miner's in the area where my dad

was raised was at our campsite making friendly

    chat one afternoon.

He saw the warts on my boy's hand and said that

he was a ';wart charmer'; and could rid him of the

    nasty little critters.

My son's eyes grew big with wonder at this.

The man asked for ';a shiny new quarter';.

My dad just happened to have such a coin in his

pocket. (these days you would have to find an

old quarter to find one that is mostly silver. and

it would need to be cleaned with silver polish)

He took my boy's hand and gently rubbed the

shiny quarter all over one of his warts while

    chanting some sort of gibberish.

We all smiled and winked at one another as this

was kind of cute and really had my boy enchanted.

    But the darndest thing.

All my son's warts disappeared and have never

    returned in 30 years!

Explain THAT one to me, because I can't.

And over the years I have had a few warts that

came back and tried to re-establish themselves.

Each time, I get a shiny new quarter and rub the

surface of the warts gently. I will continue to do

this to the new wart whenever I think about it

Several times a day for a week or so.

And each time the warts disappear for several

    years.

Must have something to do with the silver content

in the metals used to mint quarters.

Although I imagine dollars or any other silver coin

    would work.

But for the life of me, I can't explain why.

It's certainly a cheap an easy way to try and rid

yourself of those pesky unsightly warts.

And if it doesn't work you aren't any worse off.

    Try the coins first.

If no improvement, ask a dermatologist about the

    so-called novocaine treatment.

Both sound like strange ways to try and rid ones

self of warts...but hey, they can't hurt to try.

Dermatology is available on the NHS, but you would need to be referred there by your GP.
You need to have your doctor make a referral, provided the cause comes within the parameters of the NHS. If the reasons are personally cosmetic it is possible that you might have to go to a private source.

You would be advised to first consult your doctor, and take it from there.

Go to the doctors and they should refer you, if its necessary. You may need to ask to see one though.
yes it is part of the nhs but you do need a Referral from your doctor
As long as you have medical insurance, you can book an appointment. Are you employed? I use my company's benefits. I just looked up a derm, called them and set up an appointment. No referral was needed.

Facial specialist at dermatologist's office - are they paid hourly, commission, bonus?

Does a facialist, who works at a dermatologist's office, get paid hourly or commission.

If they do a less expensive treatment, will their pay check be less?

Will they recommend a more expensive facial because they will get more money in their pay check?

Or do they get a set paycheck regardless of how many facials they do or how expenive the facial is?Facial specialist at dermatologist's office - are they paid hourly, commission, bonus?
If the person works for a major medical center or at a specialty clinic that provides services such as face lifts, dermabrasion, laser treatments, etc. they are probably salaried (get a set amount of pay each month) and do not receive a commission. Sometimes bonuses are shared at the end of the year with the medical group, if the year is profitable. Working in this type environment is excellent because the facialist is free to recommend the best treatment for the patient, regardless of cost. The job requires specialized training and board certification.

    Is my dermatologist over exaggerating?

I have what I could consider moderate acne, It is not severe. My dermatologist told me it wouldnt subside until I was 25 Years of age. I just turned 19 a few days ago. Should I see a different derm. or is there really no way my skin will clear up before then?Is my dermatologist over exaggerating?
There is no way to determine when (or if) acne will subside. You've just got to try different things and hope it goes away.

    Is my dermatologist an idiot?

I read that you are supposed to take accutane for 6 months...but he only let me take it for 5!!!

By the way...i had really bad acne..so that's no excuse. Is my dermatologist an idiot?
no by the way your dematologist was fine giving you only a 5 month treatment. i will tell you why both of my children went on the program and my daughter was on for 6 months and my son was on a 5 month program. I thought this was weird at first but I proceeded to ask him why and he explained to me that you don't neccesarly have to be on a full 6 month it all has to do with the way it is prescribed , My son started off in the same amount as my daughter but after the first month they both had different doses . My sons dose was much stronger. I'm sure he knows exactly what he's doing because anyone knows that there are alot of side affects for this medicine/Both of my children have gorgeous skin now. I hope this helps you out.Is my dermatologist an idiot?
Well, if your acne actually cleared up after 5 that's a good thing. But you'll most likely need ANOTHER treatment if you've only had it once. Trust me, I had really horrible acne when i was younger too. I went through 3 treatments of accutane and that stuff with f*** you up!!!
Perhaps he was thinking (in a rush) that after five months if it hasn't worked why keep you on it. Call him back and say

why was this only given for five months instead of the general 6 months (he may have logical proof from a patient).

The only way to find out for sure is to go to one!

But now after 17 years, 2 weeks before my appointment, my skin clears up. Will they laugh at me and send me away? They are supposed to be putting me on roaccutane.I've finally got an appointment with a dermatologist and my skin has cleared up; will they help me anyway?

no - just go and explain everything to them

?what qualifications would you need to become a dermatologist?

First thing first... enter med school for 4 years. Do very well on the USMLE Step 1 (board exam) because dermatology is a competitive residency program to enter -- think of it like a 2nd med school to enter. Do well in med school. Try to get in dermatology. Upon success, 1 year of internship, then 3 years of residency. After that, it's up to you whether you should do a fellowship or not (another 1 year).?what qualifications would you need to become a dermatologist?
Dermatology is a special field of medicine, so you would need to become a fully qualified doctor of general medicine first. This takes +/- 7 years, depending on where you live.

Once you've done that, you and intern and work at the same time to specialise - this will take a further 4 years.?what qualifications would you need to become a dermatologist?
    Graduate college

    Graduate medical school, including required

    internship/residencies

Passing tests and requirements for board certification

Should only take about 8-10 years.

Spider & ant bite left scars on leg. Dermatologist says to remove scars have to cut out. Any other options?

Dermatologist says that once he cuts out ant and spider bite scars, I will have lateral barely noticeable scar on leg. It seems extreme and risky. What about light laser to fix it? Any other alternatives out there I should try? Thank you.Spider %26amp; ant bite left scars on leg. Dermatologist says to remove scars have to cut out. Any other options?
I know of two other options...

    1. You can go see a professional and they can do laser treatment on it and should vanish them in a few months

    or...

    2. You can buy an expensive cream that makes them disappears that takes a shorter amount of time. But there has been lots of complaints regarding that and has a slight chance in giving you skin diseases.

I have psoriasis on my penis. My dermatologist is a female. Will she have to examine my penis to treat me?

No, she can just imagine it and give u a prescription.I have psoriasis on my penis. My dermatologist is a female. Will she have to examine my penis to treat me?
Yes she will. I work in derm office and we see alot of private parts. Trust me we don't think a thing about it. But if you really feel uncomfortable with this situation, see if there is a male provider in the practice. You don't have to switch permanently just request one for this visit. But believe me she will examine you and give you the best treatment while not giving it a second thought.

Good luck. I have psoriasis on my penis. My dermatologist is a female. Will she have to examine my penis to treat me?

My dermatologist told me to wash my face with an antibacterial soap. which all i can think of is dial soap.is?

he right of wrong because i don't want my face to be breaking out. i don't have bad skin just a couple of bumps that come back every once in a whileMy dermatologist told me to wash my face with an antibacterial soap. which all i can think of is dial soap.is?
I was told by a dermatologist to use Tone, but I use Dove and I never put my hands on my face ever only when I wash my face do my hands go on my face, your hands are extremely dirty keep your hands off you face. Also use a moisturizer that is for your skin type. When you put anything on your face make-up, moisturizer always go up with your strokes and use your ring finger to put concealer under your eyes. Hope this helps. KEEP HANDS OFF FACE ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My dermatologist told me to wash my face with an antibacterial soap. which all i can think of is dial soap.is?
My doctor prescribed an antibiotic for my skin and it cleared me right up so I think since you have mild case the soap should work.
Dove is good if you have regular or dry skin. you might want to consider Ivory, so that you do not over moisturize with the cleanser. Also, i have heard great things about phisoderm, though i have no personal experience there. Lever 2000 is also really good, but remember to moisturize.

What do i have to major in college in order to become a dermatologist? please help :)?

If you're asking this question, it means that you already finished high school, right? That means that you should have already taken chemistry, biology, physics, and calculus.

To become dermatologist, you have to go to medical school, but in order to go to medical school, it is recommended to take this classes.

    1] Organic Chemistry

    2] Physics

    3] Calculus

Once you've gotten your 4 year degree from an accredited school and taken the MCAT, then you finally go to medical school. There when you've been accepted at one of the medical schools, you study about medicines all 4 years there. There the science based curriculum is will include:

1] Clinical human anatomy and gross anatomy

    2] Biochemistry

    3] Physiology

    4] Histology

    5] Microbiology

    6] Pathology

During your year two of medical school, you'll take the first part of the United States Medical Licensing Examination [or USMLE] so that it helps to gauge how well a student can apply basic sciences to the practice of medicine. The second part of the exam is taken usually during medical school student's senior year and the third part typically during first year of residency.

Sorry the explanation got really long. If you want to know more about how to become a dermatologist, visit the link below for more information. What do i have to major in college in order to become a dermatologist? please help :)?
Anything you want. You will need to go to medical school after college, and then apply for a dermatology residency (very competitive) once you are in medical school. You are looking at 4 years college + 4 years med school + 4 years residency - MINIMUM. You will need pre-requisites that med schools require - so most people end up being a biology major - but that is not your only option. What do i have to major in college in order to become a dermatologist? please help :)?
To become a dermatologist, a bachelor's degree in a science discipline is required, followed by four years of medical school and a residency specializing in dermatology.
I believe you would have to major in biology or biochemistry.

Dermatologists are Medical Doctors. They go to university, medical school, they intern, and they complete a residency program. During the residency program they choose to specialize in Dermatology.

Dermatologists deal with skin conditions. My Dermatologist also injects people with Botox if they want it. But she mainly focuses on skin conditions and skin diseases.

I don't know how much they make.

If you don't mind dealing with skin day in and day out then it might be the career for you.

If Medical School is not for you, then becoming a Medical Assistant or Physician's Assistant might be the next best thing. You can get your degree in that and work for a Dermatologist.

My son was prescribed Retin-A for acne. It is really harsh on his skin and his dermatologist is out of town.?

Does anyone know if it can be mixed with lotion or a moisturizer prior to applying to the face? Thank you!My son was prescribed Retin-A for acne. It is really harsh on his skin and his dermatologist is out of town.?
Yes, it can be used with a moisturizer. Try using one that is hypo-alergenic and oil-free. Neutogena makes a good one that also has SPF 15 sunscreen in it, which he should be using anyway with a product such as retin-A which increases sensitivity to sunlight. My son was prescribed Retin-A for acne. It is really harsh on his skin and his dermatologist is out of town.?
how often is he applying it. that sort of creme is harsh when applied too often and there is currently not enough oil for the med to work on so it goes after the skin. try using it every other day or as often as needed to be comfortable w/o too much oil.
call his family physician and ask them
Stop using the prescribed medication if it doing more harm than good.
he should be really careful about exposure to the sun. that can make him turn red quickly. if the irritation keeps up, have him stop taking it until you can talk to his doctor.
How long has he been on it?

It sometimes looks worse before it gets better. If he's having alot of skin irritation I would try using it every other day, until your dermatologist is back in town. But it is an excellent way to clear up acne, so don't give up on it, just cut back the number of times using it for now, so his skin can adjust.

To become a dermatologist, you will first attend four years of college, taking the MCATs senior year, majoring in pre-med, or a science, or another area but including all the science/math pre-requisites for med school admission.

You then take four years of medical school, during which you will do clerkships and clinical rotations through the various medical specialty areas. You will also begin taking the multi-part National Board exams. During the fourth year, you will sign up for the national match program, to be matched with an internship [one year, optional for some specialties] or a residency [3-5 years or more, depending on specialty].

After residency, you may elect to do a fellowship to further specialize.

Medical school is quite expensive [no scholarships to speak of], difficult to get into and difficult to finish.

For internship and residency [and fellowship], you will be paid [modestly] and work 80-hour weeks, with 24-36-hour on-call rotations [where you usually stay in the hospital and, hopefully, get some sleep, too].

I heard it can work very well, but it can cause damage to your internal organs also. My dermatoligist has perfect skin and she had been on accutane. Please help! Thanks. My dermatologist is considering accutane...Good or Bad?
I've been referred a few times by my family doctor and dermatologist. But, an antibiotic I am on right now seems to work very well for the time being. I've been scared to try Accutane because before you go on it they tell you so many different warning signs/possible problems. My Dad was on it for about 2 years and I've known people to go on and off of it as they please. Nothing serious has happened to them. If it's what your dermatologist has suggested you should probably try it out.

Hope this helps. My dermatologist is considering accutane...Good or Bad?
I went on the antibiotics as well, and they lead to chronic systemic yeast issues which eventually lead to my intestines not being able to absorb nutrients and I developed leaky gut and was basically sick for a few years until I figured all that out. Report Abuse

I have been on it for eight years because nothing else will work. It has stolen most of my vision, my moods are completely screwed up and possibly will remain so even if I stop, I get heart palpitations, have had two suicide attempts, lost jobs and friends because I am so angry and impulsive from the drug, but my skin look fabulous. I will try going the all raw and all organic rout with food and bath, body and cleaning products in my home, and see if I can finally stop taking this life destroying drug.

Remember you get what you pay for.

A lot of the home products don't have half of the ingredients and chemicals that a dermatologist will have. This is because the law doesn't allow companies to sell potentially harmful products to people that don't know how to use them.

Although the dermatologist will be more expensive, it will get you better results and lots of follow up care and advice.

    Dermatologist mole removal age?

Is it possible to go to a Dermatologist to have mole removal at 14?Dermatologist mole removal age?
    Yes.

Moles can be removed at any age. Moles are typically removed in one of two ways. The most common is what is known as a shave removal. This is where the mole is essentially ';shaved'; off with a scalpel. In this case, no stitches are used. The other way is with an excision. In this case, the area around and under the mole is removed and stitches are placed. The decision of which way is used will be based on the type of mole.

In either case, local anesthesia is used to numb the area. This is done with a small needle where the anesthesia is placed right under the mole itself. There is a pinch and then some burning which lasts 3-5 seconds after which there is no pain at all. Because of this, it is usually easier to perform the procedure on older children (including your 14 year old).

Overall, the procedure is very straight forward and usually takes only a matter of minutes to complete. It should be no problem with a 14 year old.

    Good Luck.

    Remedies For Dark Circles

    * An instant dark circles remedy is to use the correct concealer. The shade should be lighter than your foundation. If circles are very dark, choose 2 shades lighter. Great choices can be Revlon New Complexion Concealer, Estee Lauder Smoothing Skin Concealer, Cover Girl Smoothers Concealer, or Neutrogena Smoothing Skin Stick.

    * Apply a good Vitamin K cream. Vita-K Solution gel or Peter Thomas Roth Power K Eye Rescue help strengthen capillary walls around the dark circles to make them less visible.

    * One should go for laser treatment only if the case is chronic. Lasers can increase production of collagen thereby thickening skin to make dark circles less visible.

    * Home remedies for dark circles can include the following:

    1. Drink plenty of water to combat dehydration.

    2. Wear at least SPF 30 sunscreen to prevent more sun damage.

    3. Get enough sleep.

    4. Leave cold teabags, cucumber or potato slices, or washcloths with ice cubes on eyes for 15 minutes regularly.

    5. Take iron supplements if anemic, but consult your doctor first.

    6. Identify the allergens and avoid them. Whether it be pollen, food, whatever, avoidance is the best solution to this. And avoid rubbing your eyes.

    * Hylexin is the first dark circles eye cream developed for serious dark circles. Featured in several magazines such as Marie Claire, FashionWeekDaily, The Wall Street Journal , Star and Luck.

    * One of the greatest remedies for dark circles is Arbonne's NutriMinC庐 RE9 Repair. Thanks soo much in advance.I need a concealer to cover up my acne scars... I am treating my scars w/ a dermatologist prescribed medicine?
Since you are already using a prescription medication to heal your scars, stick to the treatment only. Do not add on other products because they may interact negatively or irritate your skin.

As for concealers, avoid color correcting concealers (green, yellow, etc.). They are tricky to use and show up under different lighting giving your face a funny cast.

I recommend choosing a concealer and/or a medium coverage foundation that matches your skin tone.

L'Oreal True Match is good line to consider because it has a wide range of colors.

Revlon, Maybelline, and Physician's Formula are reliable too.

Cover Girl Aqua Smooth makeup has gotten some good reviews.

Try to find an oil-free, fragrance-free formula that matches your skin. Consider shopping at a drug store with a satisfaction guaranteed return policy so you can return in. I'm not sure Target is as lenient once you've opened the package.

    lolz u n mi both!
Ingore the person who said Proactive. Proactive doesnt work at all, if it would work that good, why isn't it in sotres? Why do u have to purchase Proactive online or somewhere else? Plus, Proactive only helps with acne, zits, and big pimples, not acne scars so it wont help you. U can uy it to prevent more acne from coming, but i doubt it will work. Just stick with this plan...

Dont put Vaseline on ur chin either, it just makes it oiler and can cause more acne to come because it contains pedtuolum jell in it. If u can go to ur nearest drugstore and purchase something called ';Curad Scar Therapy';, its made for all type of scars, pigment scars, injuries from scars, acne scars, ect.

It cost about $15.00 and will work in about 8 weeks and in that 8 weeks, you'll notice that all the scars would have faded away, they wont harm ur skin and their just clear pads you have to wear everyday for 12 hours for 8 weeks, do not skip a single day or it will not work for u. Follow directions when u buy it. Any questions? Message me :)

p.s., ask ur doctor if you should try this product, i'm sure he will say okay
    proactive works well
I have experienced all that, it will not work in the long -run, ... Use retinAcream before you go to bed... %26amp; make sure you wash it off next morning before you go under the sun.... 'cos you need to get a clear answer for the acne...without covering up for the moment...

    Help im off to dermatologist?

I have been referred to a dermatology department due to a change in a mole on my leg, i also have loads more moles. Could anyone please tell me what will actually happen at this clinic thanks.Help im off to dermatologist?
I see a dermatologist regularly. Usually they just look at a mole or spot to determine if there is a problem. If they suspect a problem they may have to take a biopsy of it to check for cancer. They can also perform laser surgery to remove it.

With the growing number of melanoma's it is always best to have any changes to your skin checked out. Good luck! Hope everything is fine.

Yep. It'll probably go away when your older but if it bothers you now definitely go see a derm. There's no harm in going, my sister used to have acne and the doctor gave her a nice cream that cleaned everything up lol so I'd say you have nothing to lose :)Should i see a dermatologist?
It will probably go away on it's own but you do want to prevent things like scarring and hyperpigmentation.

Washing isn't always the best approach and can worsen the problem sometimes, so it is a good idea to see a dermatologist.

My current derm. basically says that there is not much to do for my minor psoriasis on skin and nails and just gives me topical steroids. She never takes time to help me with any of my other skin problems. I would love to see a derm. that takes the time for all my problems and gives me options not only for psoriasis but also more cosmetic dermatology. Any recommendations??Anyone recommend a dermatologist in MV/Palo Alto?

My boyfriend just had a raised blue dot cut out of his skin by a dermatologist. what could it be?

the spot was perfectly round, but a blueish-gray color. neither of us had ever seen anything like it before. it's being sent for biopsy. My boyfriend just had a raised blue dot cut out of his skin by a dermatologist. what could it be?
Could be cancer, or not. Waiting for biopsy results isn't easy. It IS more reliable than speculation from someone who's never seen your boyfriend's spot.My boyfriend just had a raised blue dot cut out of his skin by a dermatologist. what could it be?
I guess you will have to wait for the results, thats why they are sending it in.
Its probably just a blue mole, benign, nothing to work about. Is it possible he was stabbed by a pen or pencil at some point in time and forgot about it? If so, it could be somewhat of a tattoo. Also, was it completely removed or can you still see some of the blue there? Was it bothering him?(itchy, dry, scaly?)The dermatologist should contact you with results and what needs to be done about it. Results should be back within a week if you are really concerned.
I concur with #4 answerere. It probably was just a mole. Since it is odd in color, though not totally uncommon, they remove it an biopsy it to make sure. I had one on my arm. Drove me nuts for years. Finally when I had my thyroid surgery done, I asked them to remove it. Came back fine. It was just ugly as heck. It is typically the black or ones that change color. Mine was from me picking at a scab over and over again in my teen years. It eventually grew into a mole that was gross.
Who knows? The dermatologist would have told you if he could have made a reasonable guess. But it's gone now, anyway and if there was anything dubious the dermatologist will probably tell you and you can certainly ask him once he's got the lab report.

There is this new popular cream that people have been talking about.

It was even televised on TV.

It prevents future and existing acne, diminishes scars, and lightens skin and blemishes. Fast results too! (It's been claimed that major results can be seen within a week and no later than two weeks)

Before and After photos are available at the given ebay site.

This person is providing 1-3 week trial samples (Only for ONE DOLLAR.. definitely a deal) on ebay at:

Search up ';Cee En's Acne Solution'; or ';best acne solution ever'; on ebay.

First 100 customers can get the item for $1 for one week trial and up to 3 weeks. Or you can purchase 1 month supply for $40 or 6 month supply for $160

It's expensive, but the product DOES work.

My sister and cousin who both have major acne have tried the product and they both give it thumbs up. I have also heard many great feedbacks about this cream.

I don't have a problem with acne, but it seems to have great results on my sister who has moderate to severe acne. Her acne swelling went away overnight.

I hope this helps. =)Information about Dermatologist and Acne?
Acne starts with a basic infection: blackheads or pimples. They appear due to the enlargement of pores that are covered by grease, dead skin cells or bacteria. Invisible to the naked eye, the pimple prowls under the skin surface, waiting for the right moment to grow and become an infection.

While the skin keeps producing grease, bacteria blossoms inside the inflamed pore. The skin surrounding the area expands the inflammation until white blood cells start fighting the intruding bacteria.

Even though pimples are essentially born the same way, they may take different forms and react differently according to the person who has them.
