Im thinking of going to beauty school, you know for skin care, is that a good idea? i know its not medical but it would give me some knowledge, right? please help=)I want to be a dermatologist, what steps should i take?
a dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in treating disorders of the skin. Hence, you'd need to attend an undergraduate school, obtaining training in the proper courses of chemistry, biology, math, as well as the rest of the well-rounded liberal arts categories. Then you'd have to attend four years of medical school, an internship and preferably a residency in medicine (or surgery) and then, if you're lucky, be accepted into a dermatology three year residency program. I say ';lucky'; because the dermatology residency admission is the most difficult of all residencies to get iin to in the country. So, not only would you have to go thru all of the above schooling, but you'd have to be the top student in your class in order to be considered for the residency program. Many programs, in fact, will only accept applications from those people who have obtained both the M.D. and PhD degrees. So, if you're willing and able to put in the effort, then best of luck to you.I want to be a dermatologist, what steps should i take?
welll...............science and math ya need a lots of......4 yrs college 4 yrs med school 3 yr residency .....go to beauty school if ya want.................not necessary......Maulanabqvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08308692437980979959noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1617897220753240103.post-5441760805994952742010-04-28T05:43:00.001-07:002010-04-28T05:43:24.282-07:00Do you know how much it cost to go to the dermatologist? I'm trying to get rid or reduce the darkness under my eyes. I don't get it why he would give me a moisturizer. How would that help? Should I keep using it or what? Did your dermatologist do this for you? please tellWhy did my dermatologist give me this?
Just use it...the dermatologist knows better than Yahoo Answerers. Why did my dermatologist give me this?
JUST GO AHEAD AND USE IT ... BECAUSE IT MOISTURIZES DOENT MEAN IT ISNT GOING TO WORK ...... JUST KEEP USING IT AND IT MIGHT WORK
Why didn't you just ask him? Maybe he gave it to you because he's afraid your skin will dry up from the tears you'll shed when he tells you he can't help you with those dark circles.

Is that last question to me? Probably because most times I don't beat around the bush. I say what needs or should be said, and sometimes add a bit of humour hoping people will be able to laugh at themselves and the situation.

He is your doctor and specializes in the area concerning the condition you went to see him for. Therefore, if you have any questions about the treatment he recommended, then he will know why he recommended it and it won't cost you a dime more to ask him. Just give him a ring and ask. And if he gave it to you to use, then obviously he thought it would help. So until you do find out from him how exactly it is supposed to help, then you have no reason not to use it as directed and every reason to use it.

Another thing is we don't know exactly what your skin problem is because we didn't examine you. And while what he gave you might be a moisturizer, it might not be just a moisturizer. It may have other items added to it. These are also answers he knows.

It's wise to consider when asking why someone did a specific thing that the only person who can really answer that question is the person who did that thing.
I think it鈥檚 important to really understand the causes of you dark circles before trying to treat the dark circles. This includes graduation from a 4-year college, a 4-year medical school followed by a year of post graduate training in medicine, surgery or pediatrics (called an internship) after which a physician may apply for admission to graduate dermatology residency training. Dermatology residencies are among the most competitive in terms of admission criteria. Following the successful completion of formal residency training in dermatology (3 years) the physician is qualified to take certifying board examinations (written and oral) by the American Board of Dermatology or the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. Once board certified, dermatologists become Diplomates of the American Board of Dermatology or the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology AOCD. They are then eligible to apply for fellowship status in the American Academy of Dermatology. Some dermatologists undertake advanced subspecialty training in programs known as fellowships after completion of their residency training. These fellowships are either one or two years in duration. Fellowships in dermatology include pediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology including MOHS micrographic surgery, dermatopathology (pathology of skin diseases) and dermatological immunology.

Training program in Australia:

An Australian specialist dermatologist will have completed 6 years of medical school, one internship year and at least one year of general medical or surgical service in the public hospital system, prior to becoming eligible for specialist training in dermatology. The selection process is rigorous and transparent; candidates must pass science and pharmacology exams and engage in monitored and assessed practical training in medical and surgical dermatology. At the completion of the 5 year training programme, trainees sit a national written examination held over two days. Successful candidates may then proceed to the practical viva examination (held over 2 days) after which they may apply for fellowship status with the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

Training program in India:

To be a dermatologist in India, a minimum of 3 years of training is required after graduation from medical school and internship. The period involves rigorous training in all aspects of general dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, venereal diseases (including HIV) and leprosy. At the end of the training period the resident has to go through written tests and clinical exams. The degree awarded is MD (dermatology, venereology and leprosy). Most specialists also go for certification by the national board (for the award of 'diplomate of national board').How long does it take to become a dermatologist?
I have a B.A. in Philosophy and now I want to become a Dermatologist, what steps can I take in order to make that happen? Report AbuseMaulanabqvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08308692437980979959noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1617897220753240103.post-44184233809544308132010-04-28T05:40:00.000-07:002010-04-28T05:40:15.758-07:00What majors do i need to become a dermatologist? If you are in the US or Canada, your undergraduate major doesn't matter. Would he as a dermatologist be qualified to make such a diagnosis? Is a dermatologist qualified to diagnosis a patient with Lupus (re: Michael Jackson)?
Yes, Lupus has skin manifestations and often patients with lupus present for the first time with these skin changes. the disease is usually managed primarily by a rheumatologist, but generally no one would have more training or experience in managing the skin manafestations than a dermatologist. because lupus can effect every body system there is usually a team approach to the management of this diseaseIs a dermatologist qualified to diagnosis a patient with Lupus (re: Michael Jackson)?
Yes, discoid or skin lupus is diagnosed and treated by a dermatologist. It is diagnosed by skin biopsy.

Systemic lupus is treated by a rheumatologist and other specialists to deal with the organs affected by the lupus. This varies from patient to patient.
i assume so since he deals with the skin....people go to dermatologist to ask about their skin problems
philosophy
Maulanabqvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08308692437980979959noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1617897220753240103.post-51054871987057316432010-04-28T05:39:00.001-07:002010-04-28T05:39:25.539-07:00Is it possible for me to become a dermatologist with an ged? if yes, what do I need to do to get started???Depending you your GPA for highschool you might want to go to a two year Community College. Take the basic classes like maths and englishes there. After transfer to a 4 year college to start your degree. You need a high GPA though so your going to need to work hard. After the 4 yeaer college you can go into Medical school. Is it possible for me to become a dermatologist with an ged? if yes, what do I need to do to get started???
Yeah... the first thing would be to apply and be excepted into a 4 year college or university and receive your bachelors degree. You must complete your undergraduate degree then you can look into applying to med school where you can study to become a dermatologist. Is it possible for me to become a dermatologist with an ged? if yes, what do I need to do to get started???
it is possible. It is difficult to get into a four-year school with a GED, so you would be wise to start out at a community college and then transfer to a four-year school.
A dermatologist is a type of doctor, so no, a GED wouldn't be enough. Start planning for undergraduate and med school if that's your dream.Maulanabqvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08308692437980979959noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1617897220753240103.post-18653755620308028672010-04-28T05:39:00.000-07:002010-04-28T05:39:14.540-07:00Extreme dandruff Everywhere NOT only scalp. Going to dermatologist good idea? What can they possibly do? Well i never gone to one, but i figure they will only tell me that i could have some extreme fungus.. But besides that, there is nothing they can do..is there? Besides prescribing expensive medsExtreme dandruff Everywhere NOT only scalp. Going to dermatologist good idea?
I would definetely go to a dermatologist , he'll probably help alot.Extreme dandruff Everywhere NOT only scalp. Going to dermatologist good idea?
It could be something as easy as seborrheic dermatitis so see a derm is a good idea. Simple meds or cream are not expensive. Getting it treated though is the only way to go to find out for sure what it is and the best way to treat it.
Ummm...yeah.
You won't know until you go...
you should go to the derm its the best thing
Just make sure they do not give a STEROID cream to deal with it because that will thin your skin in the long run. There are non steroid creams that are good. Secondly, i'd highly recommend an allergy test too. A friend who had a similar problem also went to a Chinese herbal doctor and he was given a list of things to not eat- it slowly improved...good luck!
a lot of dermatologists prescribe sarna lotion, aquaphor or eucerin cream for dry skin

they are OTC drugs

drink plenty of water avoid using too much soap it dries your skin

and use a cool mist humidifier indoors to moisten the air to make it less dry

it it does not resolve or reddens or oozes then see a dermatologistMaulanabqvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08308692437980979959noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1617897220753240103.post-11907856732069697632010-04-28T05:38:00.003-07:002010-04-28T05:38:54.615-07:00If you are within Fort Worth, TX who would you reccommend as a dermatologist?Miller, D Scott MD - Tarrant Dermatology Consultant

(817) 927-2332

1622 8th Ave, #100, Fort Worth, TX 76104Maulanabqvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08308692437980979959noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1617897220753240103.post-4796638804182500932010-04-28T05:38:00.002-07:002010-04-28T05:38:35.739-07:00I am thinking of becoming a dermatologist or Laser Aesthetician but I need HELP!!!!!!?If i become a dermatologist will i be able to work with laser hair removal? So, this should cost more than $50 should it?Who do you think would be more expensive? A chiropractor or a dermatologist? (without insurance)?
Without insurance a dermatologist (a specialist MD/DO) you're looking at approx $250 for the office visit in addition to anything they might run, and if they want you back for a reevaluation plus whatever the cost of ointment or pills to take care of the problem, which could be a very wide range. So that's just a rough estimate, but probably close to what you're looking at.Who do you think would be more expensive? A chiropractor or a dermatologist?
