a dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in treating disorders of the skin. Hence, you'd need to attend an undergraduate school, obtaining training in the proper courses of chemistry, biology, math, as well as the rest of the well-rounded liberal arts categories. Then you'd have to attend four years of medical school, an internship and preferably a residency in medicine (or surgery) and then, if you're lucky, be accepted into a dermatology three year residency program. I say ';lucky'; because the dermatology residency admission is the most difficult of all residencies to get iin to in the country. So, not only would you have to go thru all of the above schooling, but you'd have to be the top student in your class in order to be considered for the residency program. Many programs, in fact, will only accept applications from those people who have obtained both the M.D. and PhD degrees. I would say it is better to see a podiatrist since thy specialize in your feet and really have see more ailments in peoples feet then a dermatologist does. A dermatologist just specializes in skin conditions. But a podiatrist sees all sorts of foot ailments that a dermatologist may not have seen before.

Podiatrist would be ideal if you can. A regular family doctor can help you too. My doc said 1/4 c of bleach in 1 gallon of water, soak for 3 days a week for 10 minutes for 1 year...OR take a pill for a year that could give me liver failure or something like that.
Your primary care doctor can give you an antibiotic..if he can't help he'll probably send you a foot doctor.

Definitely check out the Lindsay House on East Avenue. There are 2 different parts...one is the Q Medical Spa which does injections, facials , hair removal etc. and then there is the surgery center. Very trustworthy and reputable. What you probably want for your nose is Restalyne or some other filler to fill in the ';bump'; I've seen it on tv before too...some opt for it instead of a nose job. Why did my dermatologist give me this?

I have dark circles under my eyes and I went to a dermatologist and he gave me a little tube of moisturizer (I get enough sleep and I'm only 16 by the way). I'm trying to get rid or reduce the darkness under my eyes. I don't get it why he would give me a moisturizer. How would that help? Should I keep using it or what? Why didn't you just ask him? Maybe he gave it to you because he's afraid your skin will dry up from the tears you'll shed when he tells you he can't help you with those dark circles.








Is that last question to me? Probably because most times I don't beat around the bush. I say what needs or should be said, and sometimes add a bit of humour hoping people will be able to laugh at themselves and the situation.





He is your doctor and specializes in the area concerning the condition you went to see him for. Therefore, if you have any questions about the treatment he recommended, then he will know why he recommended it and it won't cost you a dime more to ask him. Just give him a ring and ask. And if he gave it to you to use, then obviously he thought it would help. So until you do find out from him how exactly it is supposed to help, then you have no reason not to use it as directed and every reason to use it.





Another thing is we don't know exactly what your skin problem is because we didn't examine you. And while what he gave you might be a moisturizer, it might not be just a moisturizer. It may have other items added to it. These are also answers he knows.





It's wise to consider when asking why someone did a specific thing that the only person who can really answer that question is the person who did that thing.

I have these dark spots that are all over my body. which started in my back and now my body is pretty much vcovered in them and it;'s getting to my face. its not really attractive to look at and it's embarrassing. A minimum of 12 years of college and post graduate training is required to become a dermatologist in the United States and Canada. Did my dermatologist do this too hastily?

i had a blackhead extraction procedure done,


it successfully got rid of all my blackheads.





but she didn't use steam or anything to help with the pain.


all she did was poke/stab the pores with blackheads with a very sharp needle


then scraped the impurities out

Wow that does sound painful! I had a facial where they used steam to open my pores which made it easier to get the blackheads out. I wasn't in much pain from it and it worked beautifully. Sounds like you went to a butcher!
