Dermatologist mole removal age?

Is it possible to go to a Dermatologist to have mole removal at 14?Dermatologist mole removal age?
Yes.

Moles can be removed at any age. Moles are typically removed in one of two ways. The most common is what is known as a shave removal. This is where the mole is essentially ';shaved'; off with a scalpel. In this case, no stitches are used. The other way is with an excision. In this case, the area around and under the mole is removed and stitches are placed. The decision of which way is used will be based on the type of mole.

In either case, local anesthesia is used to numb the area. This is done with a small needle where the anesthesia is placed right under the mole itself. There is a pinch and then some burning which lasts 3-5 seconds after which there is no pain at all. Because of this, it is usually easier to perform the procedure on older children (including your 14 year old).

Overall, the procedure is very straight forward and usually takes only a matter of minutes to complete. It should be no problem with a 14 year old.

Good Luck.
