A dermatologist might want to take pictures of whatever part of your skin s/he would work on for future comparison, but I can't see any need for x-rays unless the area they're working on might include a congenital defect and they need to see the underlying bone structure. The only way to find out for sure is to go to one!

not for acne , but of you were in an accident and say something was lodged in the skin and he had to try and doe reconstructive surgury he would, but for acne, forget it
