i just wanna see the variety of prescriptions dermatologist try. im on two creams and antibiotic. its expensive.Has anyone seen a dermatologist? what are they having you try? for long have you been on it?
I've been to a dermatologist for Acne.
They first put me on a regime of skin creams and lotions (rectin-A and some other stuff I can't remember). No good.
Then, they put me on a run of antibiotics (monocyclin or something like it). No good.
Lastly, I went on Accutane.
Want to talk expensive?? The perscription itself was $50 a month. My health insurance at the time SUCKED and I had a $50 co-pay for the office visit. Not to mention the blood test and pregnancy tests I had to take monthly. This went on for 6 months!!! I needed another trial after that but took 2 months off. Then I stayed with the routine for another 4 months. It all adds up.
However, the money was totally well spent. I would do it all again if I had to.
Hope this helps.Has anyone seen a dermatologist? what are they having you try? for long have you been on it?
Hmmm... well, I AM a dermatologist. And, I don't have a set regimen when it comes to acne, as there are different types of acne, which require different therapies. Plus, there are different skin types, and different ethnicities, and different genders, and different ages. So, all of this has to be taken into account before I prescribe something for my patients. Yes, going to a doctor, and especially a specialist, is not cheap, but generally is worth the investment, as dermatologists are in the best position to treat your skin appropriately, and in the long run, cheapest. I know I really didn't answer your question, but I hope I gave u a better understanding of what goes into our decision as to what to treat you with.
