I'm a dermatologist, and I see about 33% of my patients of skin of color. (I'm white). However, we have two African American dermatologists in town, who tend to see about 50% of their patients of skin of color. We dermatologists are trained to treat both types of skin, since, as you have noted, the treatment tends to be a bit different between the two types. If you are having trouble getting into Dr. Taylor, then you might want to check around with other dermatologists, and ask the secretary if the doctor has a lot of experience with darker skin types. (PS.. I know there are some there, as a couple of the doctors that I've trained are now practicing in the Phila area.)Not trying to be racist..are there any dermatologist (does not matter where) that specialize in brown skin?
Brown skin is the same as white skin and black skin and yellow skin and red skin. The only difference is the pigmentation. If you're looking to find a dermatologist that specializes in 'brown skin' then you're wasting your time, money and that person is probably not much better than any other 'normal' dermatologist. Just sayin'!
