i really want to become one but i just dont know about going to school for so long!..i just want to know if its worth it.Does it pay off to become a dermatologist?
If you really think it's what you want to do, it's worth it. However, you should realize that dermatology is one of the most competitive medical specialties due to the great hours an lifestyle it provides. Therefore, not only do you have to get through med school, you have to excel to be competitive for a derm residency. My best advice would be to shadow a dermatologist to really see what they do on a daily basis and talk to them about their experiences to see if it seems like something you'd like to do, and if the hard work you'll have to put it will be worth it to you.
