What exactly does a dermatologist use to examine the skin?

The first thing that the dermatologist will do is to look and see what the problem appears to resemble. Following that, there are, possibly, various tests to determine or rule out certain possible causes. These tests may be done by a blood, urine, ultrasound, MRI or tissue examination. The choice will be made by the dermatologist depending upon what the cause might be.

Hope this helps
